ZATCA Foils Two Attempts to Smuggle over 33,000 Amphetamine Pills and over 21 KG of Methamphetamine (Shabu)

The Zakat, Tax and Customs Authority (ZATCA) thwarted two attempt to smuggle 33,548 Amphetamine (Captagon) Pills and over 21 kg of Methamphetamine (shabu) concealed inside a vehicle and a truck entering Saudi Arabia at the Empty Quarter (Al-Rub’ Al-Khali) Customs port and Durrah Customs Port.

ZATCA’s official spokesperson Mr. Hamoud Al-Harbi, stated that Durrah Customs Port foiled the first attempt to smuggle 33,548 Amphetamine (Captagon) pills found hidden in the vehicle’s fuel tank. Mr. Al-Harbi added that the Empty Quarter (Al-Rub’ Al-Khali) Customs Port was able to thwart the second attempt to smuggle over 21 kg of Methamphetamine (Shabu) found hidden in one of the trucks coming to Saudi Arabia through the port.
Mr. Al-Harbi emphasized that ZATCA reaffirms its continued commitment to strengthening customs control over Saudi Arabia’s imports and exports and to confronting all smuggling attempts. This effort aligns with one of the core pillars of ZATCA’s strategy: enhancing security and protecting society by limiting the entry of harmful substances and other prohibited items.

Al-Harbi urged the public to contribute to combating smuggling in order to safeguard society and the national economy.
