The Zakat, Tax and Customs Authority (ZATCA) carried out more than 20,000 inspection rounds last November on markets and shops in various regions and cities across the Kingdom.
ZATCA’s official spokesperson Mr. Hamoud Al-Harbi, stated that the rounds conducted by its oversight and inspection teams encompassed a variety of commercial sectors, most notably: retail, tobacco, Public Interest Markets, and service offices.
Mr. Al-Harbi added that the inspection round revealed several violations recorded across the monitored commercial activities. Among the most common were issuing invoices without the required tax element, the failure to display tax certificates. In addition to non-compliance with the regulations of enhance compliance with the regulations of e-invoicing systems. He explained that these efforts aim to enhance compliance within the business sector and ensure transparency in commercial transaction while strengthening adherence to tax las within ZATCA ‘s regulatory scope.
Mr. Al-Harbi further highlighted that these rounds come as part of ZATCA’s ongoing field efforts to intensify oversight, verify commitment to tax requirements, and address any practices that fall outside the regulatory framework, all through continuous and enterprising inspection teams.
Mr. Al-Harbi urges all consumers to lodge their reports against any establishment that exhibits any tax violations via its website (zatca.gov.sa) or ZATCA App. ZATCA offers incentive rewards for people who file reports on tax violations, rewards amount to 2.5% of the value of violations and fines, at a maximum of 1 million riyals or a minimum of 1000 riyals.
